Hague Apostille

Under the terms of the Hague Convention of 5 October, 1961, the Apostille consists of a formality which certifies the authenticity of public acts issued in the territory of one Contracting State and which must be presented in the territory of another Contracting State to the same Convention, thus giving them formal probative value.

Among others, the acts issued by ministries, courts, registry offices and notary offices, public education establishments, town councils and parish councils are certified by means of the Apostille.

The central/appropriate authority for the purpose of issuing/verifying Apostilles in Portugal is the Portuguese Attorney General’s Office.

The João Maia Rodrigues and Diovana Barbieri Notary Office procures the issue of the aforementioned Apostille, at the request of interested parties.
